The teaser on the Drudge report is that the New York Times will soon report that Defense Secretary Gates and Secretary of State Rice are getting behind a strategy that will have forces reduced to 100,000 by the end of 2008.
We must proceed cautiously to see if A) The Times does actually report it. B) It is actually true.
If it is true, it represents the leftwing's most horrible nightmare scenario in Iraq, (victory) is at hand. Despite all of the hysterical, hot-breathed rhetoric vomited out by liberal moon bats and the drive by media, the victory has never really ever been in doubt.
As the chart below shows painfully clearly, anti- U.S. forces in Vietnam were able to accomplish what anti-U.S. forces in Iraq never could- a serious escalation in the rate of American casualties.
Now, before I am accused of coldly dismissing the deaths of 3,800 soldiers, let me say that I am certainly not. What I am saying is that the so-called insurgents (terrorists), never did get the upper hand on the coalition forces and they never were going to.
That is why the inevitable leftwing spin, that a reduction in forces is anything but a sign of victory, will fall on deaf ears. The terrorists couldn't beat us.
They gave up long ago. They adopted a new strategy- kill the innocents.
Al Queda determined that the sheer depravity and barbarity of their actions would revile and nauseate the Americans into retreat. The Democrats, and the mainstream press were only too quick to endorse the Al Queda strategy.
Unfortunatly for them, Bush had a better strategy- stay the course.
Stunningly brilliant and awe inspiringly courageous in it's simplicity. Damn the torpedos, full speed ahead.
Well, while the leftwing press was having a field day writing about RPGs and Roadside Bombs, and the leftist moonbats were just lapping it up, a funny thing happened....
....Iraq gained the motivation and the ability to defend herself. In other words, the very victory that leftist moonbats have told us can never happen, is within view.
Make sure you rub it in at every opportunity.
