In the face of gale force political winds, President George W Bush marches on. I just cannot help but admire that. In an age of can't do cowardice, Bush's courage and perseverance is quite refreshing.
Even on the border/immigration issue, I truly believe his heart is in the right place. (Though his head- most certainly- is not). I am not, nor have ever been, the defender of the indefensible and George W Bush's Amnesty bill is that and more.
In fact, I find myself in bewildered awe that the George W Bush who is so hell bent on pardoning and legalizing 12-20 million criminal invaders (the clear will of the people be damned), is the very same George W Bush that is prosecuting the war on terrorism precisely the way it needs to be prosecuted.
It is, in a word, astonishing.
30,000 additional troops have surged into Iraq and we are letting no moss grow on their feet. General Petraeus has implemented a huge counter offensive and counter-insurgency strategies that have never failed. They are already bearing fruit- big time.
Attacks in Baghdad and Anbar province are way down and the Insurgents (terrorists) are being put to flight. Every war in history has had it's historic turning point and you are witnessing this one. The Al Queda terrorists (and their coward accomplices at home) gambled that persistent, horrific violence, day after day, week after week, month after month, would cause George W Bush to lose his resolve and start reducing troop levels or pull out all together.
They were sorely mistaken. With the wind in his face, Bush has done the courageous and right thing to do- dig his heels in and ramp up the fight, taking it directly to the enemy.
Make no mistake, history will reward such valor. That's why I love George W Bush.
He is wrong on border security and immigration and noone is fighting harder than me to stop that horrendous bill. To say that the Republicans are giving us a pathetic effort on border security is obvious. This post is not an endorsement of the Republican border security position. As well as I can see the mainstream Republican position is allow us to instantly nationalize most illegals, including some felons and we just might build you a security fence and man it with agents who will be prosecuted for trying to defend it.
That position really sucks and has most conservatives (myself included) in a rage.
What is really disheartening is that that position, as nauseating as it is, is the better of the only two positions that are really on the table.
The Democratic position, as this article demonstrates, seems to be allow us to instantly nationalize all illegals, including all felons and there isn't a chance in hell we will build you a security fence. but we will continue to prosecute the agents.
Where have our heroes gone? Are Fred Thompson, Tom Tancredo and Duncan Hunter the only chances we have of ending this madness?
Out of 435 members, in the House of Representatives, only 149 (34%) voted for a security fence? A fence that 80% of Americans favor?
The latest Rasmussen Reports poll shows that only 20% of Americans want the current immigration bill passed and only 19% of Americans have a favorable view of the current congress.
Meanwhile, President Bush's approval ratings are near an all-time low.
The American people are screaming for a fence at our southern border and they are shrieking at the thought of amnesty. Yet, our President and our congress are responding with an amazing arrogance. Republican and Democrat, alike.
Yet, the overwhelming majority of those who did vote for the border fence were Republicans.  In a quote so priceless that it will become a permanent part of this website, a rabid, frothing left wing kook made this chillingly blunt remark that pretty much sums up the true mindset of the liberal, hidden under all those layers of anti-war histrionics.
Bernie of the Blog Planck's Constant made the same observation on my blog talk radio show on March 3rd.
Call it the ultimate checkmate. The final blow in a year's long battle in which this coward used ever cowardly purpose of evasion possible. Yet, the mighty Knight, poli-chat Sword smith extraordinaire, with deft skill and precision, trapped and cornered this fool and caused him to inflict the mortal blow upon himself.
It was sheer brilliance.
There lies, now, the bare naked truth of liberalism. All of their Boo- F***ing Hoo histrionics about the immoral war in Iraq is so much political grandstanding and nothing more. At the end of the day, every muslim on earth could die and the Liberals wouldn't even notice...much less care.
When Liberals claim they oppose the war in Iraq, they are merely playing a role, nothing more.
That is why they cannot be persuaded by logical arguments. Their position isn't based on logic, it is based on hate and nothing more.
As Bernie put it, they are against the war in Iraq because it doesn't advance their agenda.
If Al Gore had won the 2000 election and invaded Iraq, this loon would be at the front of the line, cheering the loudest. The human cost, one way or the other, isn't even a factor.
You have to be a human being before you can examine issues on a human level.
