When the 'news' broke, I called up The Knight, fellow editor and founder of A Newt One, to get his take. Sonlit is a Catholic, and I am a Protestant. We have enjoyed many discussions on the different doctrines of our beliefs - and we are confident that we both have Salvation, since the core of Catholic and Protestant teaching is salvation through God's Son Jesus Christ.
But this is not a post on faith and salvation.
After I left a message for him, The Knight returned my call in a few minutes. He had not heard the news that The Pope had said "other churches are not genuine" as reported by left wing media stalwarts CNN. The first words out of Knight's mouth?
"I guarantee you that the Pope was misquoted or taken out of context. Guaranteed."
It turns out The Knight was right. This Pope is angering moonbats with his firm stand on morality. As rock solid as the previous, beloved Pope was on moral issues, Pope Benedict is ever more so, making moves almost immediately to clarify and reaffirm the Church's intolerance concerning sexual deviancy and sexual sin, for instance.
