Those were the terms used to describe the so-called angry, white males that elected the Republicans to congressional majority status in 1994. It was absurd, to say the least.Yet, that Republican congress balanced the budget 7 consecutive times (until the Clinton recession and 9/11) and passed almost all the tenants of the Contract with America. They also passed the capital gains tax relief that caused the economy to take off and saved the endangered Clinton Presidency.
It was a congress with purpose and focus. It was driven by optimism and doing what was right. In the end, they chose to do the right thing even though it meant slick willy would take the credit for it.
Then, in 2001-2003, under the leadership of President Bush, they passed resolutions of war and security and tax relief to get a beleaguered country back on it's feet again. Six years later, we have not been hit by another terror attack, two democracies are emerging in the middle east, the economy is the best it has ever been and the deficit has fallen by $350 billion.
Yes, they very much lost their way after 2003 but from 1995-2003, this Republican congress was a force.
Fast forward to today:
The singular accomplishment of this congress is an increase in the minimum wage. An unconstitutional, unfunded mandate that has never been shown to help anyone.
Liberals are angry. Why?
They are angry at this President because they truly believed that a Democratic congress could and would do 2 things and, really, only 2 things:
- Stop the war in Iraq.
- Impeach the President.
With each passing day, the democrats look more like the rabid hypocrites they are. They are now victims of the very koolaid drinking moonbat base they created.
Only a complete moron would have ever entertained the idea that this President could be impeached. Only someone blind, uneducated and easy to lead.
As for stopping the war, that is easy. All the Democrat congress has to do is cut the funding. Simple and Quick. So, why haven't they done it?

For while Pelosi, Reid, Durbin and company never believed their own empty rhetoric for a second, the blind, un-educated and easy to lead lemmings of liberal America bought it hook, line and sinker.
The most amusing irony of all is that the moonbat base actually does have a point.
After all, if this really is a intractable, lost, illegal, immoral, quagmire, sectarian, civil war predicated on nothing but lies, blood lust and the enrichment of Exxon and Haliburton . . . end it.
If this, truly, is an irresponsible diversion from the war on terror, and has nothing to do with Usama Bin Laden and Al Queda . . . by all means, stop it now.
If it is true that the Iraqi government is not interested in it's own security and that no strategic goal is met by us remaining in Iraq and, as Congressman Lewis said "This conflict is not worth one more drop of human blood". . .
If it is true that the mission in Iraq is an illegal, immoral occupation that is making America less safe, and creating terrorists, and the only way we can truly support the troops is to bring them home . . .
If that is all true, then Cindy Sheehan and the moonbats are correct. Cut the funding. Do it now. Don't hesitate another minute. Call an emergency session and repeal the funding this minute. What in the hell are you waiting for?
I'll call it the Put Up Or Shut Up Bill and I would love to see some Congressman/woman sponsor it.
A vote of yes means that the Iraq war is an illegal, immoral, lost quagmire based on lies about WMD and the enrichment of haliburton. It is making America less safe. Bring the troops home now and impeach Bush, Cheney, Rice and Rush Limbaugh. A vote of no means you shut up and stop bellyaching about a war you don't have the stones to bring to an end.
It seems to me the Liberals would welcome such a bill. After all, the moment they sign it, terrorism will vanish from the planet, Iraq will return to the images of innocent children running through fields of daises, UBL will surrender and Bush and Cheney will be tried and found guilty and sentenced to life in the electric chair... right?
Um . . . not so much.
After we pull out, America's military credibility will be shot and all of our enemies will be emboldened to attack an America too squeamish to defend herself. Iraq will implode into a horrific bloodbath of revenge and horror, an Iranian/Al Queda alliance will emerge and rapidly move toward nuclear weapons. UBL will get a new staging, training and planning base to expand his export of terror and the clock will start ticking to attacks that make 9/11 look like a walk in the park.
The liberals know this.

The protestations of Reid, Pelosi and company are so much histrionics. They know the cost of pulling out of Iraq would be catastrophic. They know. Unlike the blind, un-educated and easy to lead lemmings that they lead....they know.
Oh, don't get me wrong...they still want it to happen . . .
Just at a time, and in a way, that cause the maximum level of political damage to George W Bush and allows them to wash their hands of it (a la Pontious Pilate).
So? The Democrats never intended to end the war . . . ever. What they intended was to pressure Bush into ending the war. That way, their rabid, frothing moonbat base gets what it wants and they escape the historical consequences. (see Nero, Fiddle, Rome burning)
What democrats weren't counting on is that Bush is a visionary and isn't about to be bullied into making a decision based on low poll numbers or the heat of the moment, when the consequences of that decision could reverberate for decades.
Now, the democrats are becoming desperate. Not because the surge is not working but because it is. The democrats are being squeezed by a base that sees them unwilling to stop the war and a nation that sees them unwilling to support it. That is how the dems find themselves with approval ratings in the teens.
. . . and the war goes on and George W. Bush and Dick Cheney still lead.
This leads to continued lamentation and wailing among the blind, uneducated and easy to lead bats of the moon that are the base of today's left.
