A chatter in a left-wing chat room claims that Jesus is not God. Well, I would say that I disagree and walk away silent except for one thing.She, then, draws a breath and claims that she is a Southern Baptist and, as such, does not have to "walk in lockstep with the others in her denomination"
Huh?
This is the kind of utter silliness that makes me wonder if leftists are able to think at all. I mean, you can be a Christian and you can be a non-Christian but you certainly can't be a non-Christian Christian.
In other words, how can you proclaim Christ and deny Him in the same sentence!? How on earth does that work!? The only plausible explanation is that this person is woefully uneducated about what a Christian is and what they believe and needs to be taught the very basics.
Oh, but did I mention that she is a liberal? This is key, because it precludes the possibility of being taught. We here, at A Newt One, debate with facts that are irrefutable. We use arguments that cannot be disputed or refuted. Our arguments are well thought out, perfectly constructed, sound and presented in context and framework that is near perfection.
Yet, all that is lost on a liberal. A liberal believes only that which the liberal wants to believe. The most sublime and perfectly constructed argument falls deaf on a liberal's ears. The chose to hold on to their stupid, hysterical, illogical beliefs regardless of what logic, reason and facts may dictate.
Case in point. A Christ-denying Southern Baptist Christian.
Straight from the doctrines of the Southern Baptist Convention:
God
There is one and only one living and true God. …The eternal triune God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being.
God the Father
God as Father reigns with providential care over His universe, His creatures, and the flow of the stream of human history according to the purposes of His grace. …God is Father in truth to those who become children of God through faith in Jesus Christ.
God the Son
Christ is the eternal Son of God. In His incarnation as Jesus Christ, He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. …He honored the divine law by His personal obedience, and in His substitutionary death on the cross, He made provision for the redemption of men from sin.
God the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, fully divine. …He exalts Christ. He convicts men of sin, of righteousness and of judgment. …He enlightens and empowers the believer and the church in worship, evangelism, and service
Not only do the Southern Baptists affirm the divinity of Christ, it is something of which the New Testament is manifestly clear;
John.1
[1] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
[2] He was in the beginning with God;
[3] all things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made. [4] In him was life, and the life was the light of men.
[5] The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
[6] There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
[7] He came for testimony, to bear witness to the light, that all might believe through him.
[8] He was not the light, but came to bear witness to the light.
[9] The true light that enlightens every man was coming into the world.
[10] He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world knew him not. [11] He came to his own home, and his own people received him not.
[12] But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God;
[13] who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. [14] And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; we have beheld his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father.
[15] (John bore witness to him, and cried, "This was he of whom I said, `He who comes after me ranks before me, for he was before me.'")
This is not really just an issue about what Christianity is but what liberalism is. Liberalism is the stubborn doctrine that states that one is fully capable of creating their own reality, irrespective of what the facts dictate. The most amusing thing to observe is how libtards will fight to the death to defend a belief that has no factual support whatsoever.
One claims to be a Christian, even as they deny the very central tenant of the Christianity. If worship is due God alone and you say that Christ is not God, how can you say that you are a worshipper of Christ?
How would anyone but God breathe on His disciples and give them the Holy Spirit? How could anyone but God give His disciples the power to forgive sin? To call someone God, who is not God is blasphemy. Did Thomas commit blasphemy? If so, Jesus rebukes him for not committing blasphemy sooner?!
John Chapter 20
22When he had said this, he breathed on them; and he said to them: Receive
ye the Holy Ghost.
23Whose sins you shall forgive, they
are forgiven them; and whose sins you shall retain, they are retained.
24Now Thomas, one of the twelve, who is called Didymus,
was not with them when Jesus came.
25The other disciples
therefore said to him: We have seen the Lord. But he said to them: Except I
shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the place
of the nails, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.
26And after eight days again his disciples were within,
and Thomas with them. Jesus cometh, the doors being shut, and stood in the
midst, and said: Peace be to you.
27Then he saith to
Thomas: Put in thy finger hither, and see my hands; and bring hither thy hand,
and put it into my side; and be not faithless, but believing.
28Thomas answered, and said to him: My Lord, and my
God.
Can I prove, based on these scriptures, that Jesus existed (and exists) as the God-Man? No. Though I believe the evidence is overwhelming, it still comes down to a central question; Do you believe it or don't you?
The Scriptures provide a very clear and unambiguous proposition;
- The Eternal God exists in 3 persons- Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
- The Second person was born of a virgin, identified Himself as the very I AM, Himself, suffered and died for our sins, was resurrected and rose into Heaven after 40 days.
Cut and dry. 2 options;
- I believe it. I am a Christian.
- I don't believe it. I am not a Christian.
If you choose option 1, we can agree. If you choose option 2, we can disagree. However, there is no option 3. Trying to create an option 3 only succeeds in making you look like an idiot.
Trust me on this! This is the core of liberalism! Liberalism is the belief that 2 diametrically opposed views can be held at the same time!
If you are a libtard, you can claim that you worship Christ even as you deny His divinity. Yet, there is so much more! It really gets hysterical!
As a Libtard, you can;
- claim to support free speech while voting for the fairness doctrine.
- claim to support energy independence while opposing drilling, refining or nuclear power.
- claim you support science while doing anything you can to silence scientific inquiry that threatens your ideology.
- call yourself a patriot while lying about your own military and accusing them falsely of war crimes.
- claim that terrorism isn't a consequence of the muslim religion even the terrorists, themselves, say it is.
- claim a consensus on global warming, when 83% of scientists reject such a consensus.
Yes, it's easy to be a liberal. Just determine what the facts dictate....then defend the opposite position. |
