Sunday, December 30, 2007   RETURN TO TOP

Fred Thompson, despite my hopes, is not demonstrating the Iowa surge he needs to stay alive. As of now, there is no question at all that he is still the best (only) conservative in the race. Though it is still possible that he will finish in the top 3 in Iowa, and fight on, it is possible that he won't.

If Thompson fails to land in Iowa's top 3, he is done. Right now, I would call that a 50/50 proposition.

If Thompson does drop out, one thing is guaranteed- America will elect a liberal in 2008. They won't necessarily elect a democrat, but they will elect a liberal.

The only question that remains is are we going to elect a liberal or a frothing ultra lib?

What are the issues that we have to look for?

Will they raise my taxes? Yes...every one of them. Romney, McCain, Giuiliani, Huckabee as well as all the Demtards. There isn't a supply sider in the bunch. Every one of them will raise your taxes.

Will they protect the border and crack down on illegal immigration? Nope, not one of them.

No, A Fred Thompson defeat will mean a throwback to Bush 41 which, despite all the blather, was infinitely worse than Bush 43.

There are only 3 things we Conservatives can even hope for if Thompson is not the nominee.

  • Will he defend life principles?
  • Will he nominate Constructionist Judges?
  • Will he defend America?

Absent Fred Thompson, the only guy left that will do all 3 (or even 1, for that matter) is John McCain. If Huck Finn Huckabee or Mitt Romney are nominated, the best thing that can be said is that they aren't Hillary or Obama. That isn't good enough for me. even of Bush 41 or Carter, you can say that he was better than Clinton. Not exactly a ringing endorsement.

If Rudy or Ron Paul are nominated, you can't even say that much. Paul is actually left of Hillary.

After careful, thoughtful consideration, I have decided that I will not vote for any nominee except Thompson or McCain. John Kennedy said Sometimes party loyalty just asks too much.

Asking me to vote for Rudy, Romney, Paul the Kook or Huck Finn is just asking too much. I won't do it. I have not arrived at this place rashly. I speak only for myself but, in my estimation, 4 years of Hillary may be just the medicine our country needs to cure us of this sick flirtation with leftism.

I respect my Conservative friends who may disagree.
