It seems like just yesterday that Republicans were doing delirious dances of joy as George W Bush was reelected with 62 million votes. Now, here we go again. After Christmas and New Year's, and before all the bowl games are even done, we will start this whole crazy process all over again.
As is far more often the case than not, Democrats are far more optimistic than the facts warrant.
Asked by Chris Wallace whether Congresses 26% Job Approval numbers were were than Bush's 36% numbers, Karl Rove gave the line of the weekend:
"Yes, because congress is on the ballot"
Unlike the contests of 2004, nobody on the Republican side knows quite what to expect this time. Will Romney's leads in the first 3 states hold and, if so, will that help his dismal national numbers?
Will Romney be upset by Huckabee in Iowa, McCain in New Hampshire or Thompson in South Carolina?
Can Giuiliani actually win the nomination on Super Tuesday? Will Ron Paul and his wacko supporters finally get the mental healthcare they need?
On the Democratic side the question is whether Obama or Edwards can bust Hillary's bubble?
Stay tuned...it's gonna be a wild ride. |
