Dick Morris predicted that Fred Thompson would finish no better than 4th in Iowa and would then drop out. Of course, 2 years ago, Morris was predicting the inevitability of a Clinton vs Rice ticket, so his predictive power has lost some lustre.

Nevertheless, each of us may have to determine who our #2, #3 etc.. is, should our leaders go down. For me, Thompson is the only genuine, principled conservative in the group. Support of any of the others would be little more than consideration of the alternative.

1- Fred Thompson.
With out question, the only complete candidate. An economic conservative, a foreign policy
stalwart. The only guy in the field that will crackdown on illegal immigration, protect life,
fight the war on terror with vigor, appoint good judges and keep the economy vibrant.

2- John McCain.
Give him credit, he was calling for the surge, long before the surge. He is also pro-life. Beyond
that, his only appeal is that he gives us the best chance to beat Hillary. I hate his views on
taxes and on illegal immigration. A big drop from #1

3- Mike Huckabee.
An economic, tax and spend liberal. Terrible views on immigration. His strongest argument
is that he is not Romney, Giuiliani or Paul.

4- Mitt Romney.
I'll vote for him only because Hillary, Obama or Edwards will be his opponent.

5- Rudy Giuiliani.
If Rudy is the nominee, I'll stay home. Rudy is Hillary without the pantsuit.

6- Ron Paul.
If Ron Paul is the nominee, I'll vote for Hillary. Hillary is evil but Paul is just plain nuts.
