A few days back a new National Intelligence estimate downplayed the nuclear threat posed by Iran. As one might expect, the traitor Harry Reid was all over it. From the NY Slimes:
Senator Harry Reid, the majority
leader, portrayed the assessment as "directly challenging some of this administration's alarming rhetoric about the threat posed by Iran." He said he hoped the administration "appropriately adjusts its rhetoric and policy,"
So, do the American people agree with the Reid position? Um, not so much.
According to data from Rasmussen Reports, Americans take issue with the Reid position by alarming margins. Just 18% of Americans believe that Iran has halted it's nuclear weapons program. 81% of Americans believe it is very likely or somewhat likely that Iran will develop nuclear weapons in the future.
Even among liberals, only 29% believe that Iran has stopped it's nuclear weapons program.
Further, by a 67% to 19% margin, Americans believe Iran is a threat to the national security of the United States and only 6% of Americans dispute the contention that Iran sponsors terrorist attacks against the United States.
Harry Reid could not be more out of touch.
