THE WORLD'S SMARTEST WOMAN IS NOT THE INEVITABLE NOMINEE ANYMORE
Jimmy Z - Well this won't be the first place you hear this, but let me see if I can write something original. Hillary is beatable. Obama beat her handily.
But this is Iowa. No slight to the good people of the frozen state of Iowa, it is still - Iowa. Time to get serious here. There is no record of the Iowa Caucuses having any real impact. Sometimes they back the right horse, sometimes they don't.
Huckabee won too, but it is my impression that the impact of Iowa on Republicans is much less impressive than the impact Iowa has on democrats (note I try NEVER to capitalize the word 'democrat.') After all, my friends, Hillary is a Clinton!
They must have known this was coming. Bill was already dismissing Iowa earlier this week. Isn't that funny?
It was almost as if Bill was saying, "hey, Hillary doesn't have to win this. In fact, I told her not to even try. We shouldn't spend any money trying to win Iowa!"
Now it could be true that Iowa has little impact on the national polls, and that when the big primaries come along, Hillary will sail through (should I not be capitalizing Hillary as well?)
But for Barack, this was a must win. In order to gain some momentum, and to have a prayer in the big primaries where Hillary is strongly favored, he's going to have to win these seemingly penny and dime store primaries.
He won big this time - I kind of like it. I want Hillary to be pissed. She's great fun when she's pissed off. She screws up, she says things she didn't mean to say, and then the media covers for her.
As to Huckabee, Romney's campaign is bitter already, calling Huckabee's a one hit campaign. Don't you believe it. Huckabee is well liked by his supporters, and Mike comes off well. My only problem with the guy is that he likes taxes too much and he's from Arkansas, and I personally have had enough po-dunk Arkansas hillbilly Presidents in my lifetime.
At the time of this writing, Fred Thompson and John McCain are in a tight race for third place. All is well, no reason for Fred to toss in the towel. I do note that I had to finally GOOGLE 'Fred Thompson caucus' to find his name. *L* The media does NOT want you thinking about Fred.
Rudy virtually ignored Iowa. I like that - he was smart to do so.
ABC News is reporting that most Iowans preferred not to participate in the Caucus; what does that tell us?
That if they don't take it seriously, and they obviously feel that November is too far away, we ought not get too worked up either. |
