There is a good chance (though not a guarantee), that we will know the two nominees-to-be before we know who the Super Bowl Champion is. If we don't, the field of suspects will be quite a bit smaller.
REPUBLICANS
If John McCain wins Michigan, he will be almost impossible to stop. Fred Thompson is surging in South Carolina (up 4 points in as many days) and would likely leapfrog Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee into 2nd. It would be a distant second though. One would wonder if Thompson might stay in just to challenge for the VP Slot.
If Mitt Romney or Mike Huckabee win Michigan, Thompson might jump to 3rd but it's hard to see him getting to 2nd. 3rd place in South Carolina won't do it for Thompson.
If Romney fails to win Michigan, he is toast. If Thompson fails to win South Carolina, he is almost certainly toast. If Huckabee fails to win Michigan, Nevada or SC, say goodbye to him.
McCain could win all 3....and Florida too. If that happens, it's over.
DEMOCRATS
Republicans are watching with sadistic glee, wondering how nasty Hillary the bitch is going to have to get to hold off Obama. By the looks of things, this could turn into a full blown, race baiting blood bath as the black democrat racists all line up behind Obama and the white Democrat racists line up behind the bitch. The party of segregation is alive and well.
Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are the only game in town and I wouldn't be surprised to see this one come to blows. Hillary is going to win meaningless Michigan and Obama is going to win black dominated South Carolina. The question is who will win Nevada, in between the two?
If Hillary does, she will carry that momentum into Florida and Super Tuesday and the Obama balloon will burst. On the other hand, if Obama wins.....whoa nellie!
If Obama wins Nevada, Begala, Carville and the Clintons will hit him with a torrent of green, projectile vomit that hell hath not envisioned and 2008 will quickly descend into the biggest internal meltdown the democrats have seen since 1968.
Bill and Hillary are the nastiest, narcissistic, vindictive trailer trash to grace the political scene in this generation and they will make this fight just as guttural as they need to.
