ROMO SACKS THE COWBOYS
Sports commentary by an admitted sports ignoramus
Jimmy Z - Tony Romo panicked in the fourth quarter yesterday, and the Cowboys lost to the NY Giants. Let me state up front that I have no bone to pick here; politics have become my spectator sport of choice, and I really don't have a favorite team in the NFL. I liked the Cowboys to win the game and they were the heavy favorite.
Although Dallas blew the game on many levels, and certainly the Giants played very well, I'm writing about Tony Romo's romance with Jessica Simpson and its effect on his ability to focus.
Simply put, Romo was not centered. Romo is involved in the intensity of a hot romance with superstar beauty Jessica Simpson, and during the two week break between the end of the regular season and their first playoff game, Romo and Simpson enjoyed a partying Mexican getaway.
This is not rocket surgery, kids. Romo is 27. Simpson is a stunner. I assure you from personal experience, his head is spinning. He is no doubt in the middle of the most intense period of infatuation. It is nearly impossible to one's head straight on the business at hand while pursuing such a hot romance. The trip to Mexico hurt his focus and his game.
Terrell Owens denied it all in a tear-filled appearance before the press. He stated that blaming the quarterback would be unfair, and pointing to Romo's vacation would be unfair.
It's not unfair at all. It's a breach of professional trust, I believe, and the owner and coaching staff of the Dallas Cowboys should be considering a just punishment. Jerry Jones is probably fit to be tied, and I think justifiably so.
Tony Romo didn't have his head in the game. |
