I want to be totally honest. This morning, after seeing that Fred Thompson is running a disappointing 4th in South Carolina, and reading about the groundswells at the Obama rallies, I was pondering as to whether or not now might be the time to say that we are in very serious trouble.
Afterall, can, even McCain, match Obama's appeal among Independents?
Then I started looking at the latest round of Rasmussen polls. McCain would roflpwn Hillary in Virginia. No surprise there. Then I saw that McCain would also rout the wicked witch in Pennsylvania. A mild surprise in a really purple state, but also a useless one because we all know that Hillary isn't going to be the nominee.
Then I looked at how McCain matched up against Obama. McCain leads by only 2 in Virginia which is troubling, but he leads by 8 in Pennsylvania.
McCain could probably shore up those Virginia numbers with the right running mate. Clearly, the Pennsylvania numbers are problematic for Dems. |
