YES, I LOVE AMERICAN IDOL

And this season is shaping up to be very good

Jimmy Z -  Yeah, I know, we’re a political blog. If anyone here is the pop culture addict, it’s me. I’m a sucker for great entertainment.

The bad auditions from freaks and felons all over America is over, and now the show has it all boiled down to the cream of the crop -  24 contestants - 12 guys and 12 gals, will all vie for the title “American Idol 2008.”

This year shapes up to the most talented group of singers to compete on American Idol. As the competition proceeds, famed music artists will visit the show and coach them a bit as they sing songs made famous by these artists. Stand outs in previous seasons were Rod Stewart, who cannot possibly have a voice that AI’s judges would approve of, was enormously congenial, and Barry and Robin Gibb showed up on separate shows to hear contestants sing Bee Gees songs (I have to admit to being a big fan of the Bee Gees too – one of my top 5 bands of all time).

The competition will be fierce and many performances will be exceptional. If you like great singing, American Idol is the place to be. My opinion on certain episodes or decisions will sporadically appear here.
