TOP PERFORMANCE BY IDOL CONTESTANT THUS FAR
Kristy Lee Cook sings her best song choice yet
Jimmy Z - I’m going to try to get the audio of her performance, but Kristy Lee Cook, one of my least favorite singers on the show sang ‘God Bless the USA’ beautifully last night - and judge Simon Cowell gave her the best review yet.
It is likely to keep her in the competition another week. I was virtually certain she was the next to go, but probably not now.
In his praise for Cook, Simon said the choice of song was brilliant, that Lee Greenwood is a fantastic song writer, and finally that ‘God Bless the USA’ is a great song - all true of course, but it sure sounds good to hear such accolades on American Idol, the nation’s top television show.
When I get the audio I’ll post it; it’s really worth hearing. I don’t believe Ms. Cook is going to win the competition, but she’s a charming young lady, drop-dead gorgeous, and has learned a lot about how to use her voice.
American Idol doesn’t just send ‘em out there unrehearsed; during the week vocal coaches and trainers work with all the contestants, enabling them to give the best performance possible.
I believe she’s also the youngest contestant; I think she was 17 when competition began.
As one of the top ten contestants, she’ll be going on the road after the show’s season finale, touring with the other 9 throughout the United States. She’s got a wonderful opportunity ahead of her even if she doesn’t win.
