IA, Rakkasans Find Cache During Combat Patrol
CAMP STRIKER, Iraq - Iraqi army and Rakkasan soldiers found a weapons cache during a combat patrol in Hakara, Iraq, April 19.
After receiving a tip from a local citizen, the cache was collected by Soldiers from 1st Battalion, 25th Brigade, 6th IA Division and 3rd Platoon, Battery B, 3rd Battalion, 320th Field Artillery, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division.
The cache contained 239 23 mm anti-armor rounds, two 62 mm illumination rounds, two DSHKA machine guns, one DSHKA receiver and one rocket launcher.
The munitions were taken back to the IA compound in Mahmudiyah. [END]

CAMP STRIKER, Iraq - A tip from a local citizen resulted in a weapons cache find near the Abu Eid Bridge, April 18.
The tip led Soldiers from 2nd Platoon, Company D, 1st Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division to the cache buried under 6 inches of dirt.
It contained 33 82 mm mortars, five 57 mm folding-fin rockets, two 62 mm mortars, one rocket propelled grenade launcher and three bags of rocket propellant.
The cache was destroyed in place by an explosive ordnance disposal team. [END]
Soldiers Help Create 'Daughters of Iraq' Program
WASHINGTON - Soldiers of the 101st Airborne Division are working with Iraqi army troops to help create a Daughters of Iraq program to complement the work done by the Sons of Iraq.

CAMP STRIKER, Iraq - Acting on a tip from a citizen, Soldiers from Battery A, 3rd Battalion, 320th Field Artillery, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, located two weapons caches and a possible vehicle-borne improvised explosive device near the Ci Ci Bar Canal, April 20.
One cache, found in a spider hole, contained 22 120 mm mortar rounds, 560 artillery fuses and 37 23 mm projectiles. The vehicle-borne IED and a cache consisting of three IEDs were also found nearby. All were destroyed on-site. [END]

FORWARD OPERATING BASE KALSU, Iraq - Coalition forces detained three Iraqi men in the early morning hours of, April 23, after two of the three were spotted emplacing an improvised explosive device on a main supply route.
Just before midnight, April 22, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance assets witnessed two men emplacing an IED on the shoulder of the road. The ISR assets then saw the men on a nearby rooftop, over-watching the IED position as a coalition convoy approached.
The 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division worked with their battle space neighbors, the 3rd BCT, 101st Airborne Division, to stop the convoy before it struck the IED and to pursue the men who planted the roadside bomb.
A few minutes past midnight, April 23, Battery D, 1st Battalion, 76th Field Artillery, confirmed the bomb’s location, stopping the convoy before it hit the pressure-operated IED. [...]
