I received a phone call from the RNC this evening requesting a donation and trying to tell me what a great candidate McCain is. The caller seemed a bit perplexed when I agreed that Obama would be terrible for the country, but that McCain was barely better.

Perplexed? How can that be? It is pretty clear that there isn't a dime's worth of difference between McCain and Obama other than Obama being younger and the better speaker.

Throughout the call I kept telling him that a conservative I feel like I have been stabbed in the back by Republicans as the party has moved away from conservatism and has not stood behind Bush. He kept saying he hears that a lot and would make note of my concerns.

He hears it a lot? They will make note of your concerns? That sounds an awful lot like screw you, we aren't changing a thing to me.

He kept trying to tell me how much my donation would help the party, even as I kept telling him the party wasn't representing my views and that many conservatives are seriously considering forming a third party.

They just don't get it. This isn't the Soviet Union. It's not all about ''the party''.

When he asked if I would commit to a $100.00 donation, I was forced to answer him frankly with, "not a dime until the Republican embraces conservatism again." I then told him I would be supporting conservative candidates and donating to them directly, which he didn't care much for, telling me the RNC was the only authorized group to hand out funds, or some such nonsense.

Good for you. You followed your conscience.

I still told him no donations from me until I see the party representing my values again and fronting true conservative candidates.

I then bid him a good evening, as he did me, and the call ended.

Others are free to do as they desire, but my focus will remain on conservatives at congressional seats and locally.

As will mine. I see no need to waste time and treasure supporting utter frauds like John McCain.....not when I can help candidates who are the genuine article.
