Monday, July 14, 2008   Return to top The story line for McCain just keeps getting bleaker and bleaker. Minnesota, Michigan and Iowa now put him in deficits of 18, 8 and 7 points. These would be "battleground" states are turning solid blue. Worse than that, the solidly red states are the New Battlegrounds. South Dakota now has McCain's lead down to 4 points. South Dakota joins North Dakota, Montana, Virginia, Ohio, Colorado, Iowa, New Mexico, Nevada and North Carolina as 2004 Bush states where McCain is in trouble. Source: Rasmussen Reports.
