Wednesday, July 16, 2008   Return to top Significant movement towards the GOP in Rasmussen's issues survey. On the 10 most important issues on which voters will base their votes. In last months survey, the Democrats led on all 10 issues. This month they lead on 7 and are tied on one. On the issue voters rate as the most important- the Economy, the Republicans are behind but closing the gap. 14 points back last month, they now lag by 10. On the issue at #2- Government ethics and Corruption- they are 11 points back. The issue in 3rd place- National Security- now has Republicans with a 5 point advantage. This, at a time when views, that we are winning the war on terror vs losing it, are at an all-time high of +28. In 4th place, is the War in Iraq. McCain has led Obama on this issue for months but the GOP has lagged the Democrats significantly. The current GOP's one point lead represents a 9 point jump in the last month. In the 5th place position is the Immigration issue where the GOP has overcome a four point deficit to forge a tie. This is promising but bears watching. ~Sonlit | |
