Utter Stupidity Disguised As Political Analysis

Cross posted by request from Proprietor Nation

Hatchet Job Masquerading as Political Analysis

A friend of mine asked for help in a political media interpretation class they were taking. I won't bore you with the details but I only bring it up because this is how I came upon this article. This is the sort of hatchet job one would expect to find in the New York Times or Boston Globe however instead I found it in a local Midland, Texas newspaper. It is the exact sort corrupt political writing that has made Conservatives everywhere distrustful of the media. It starts like this...

Giuliani's ties to Houston law firm gives him Texas boost
Republican Rudy Giuliani -- thrice-married, liberal on social issues and a consummate New Yorker -- seems an unlikely White House contender to be embraced by a Texas' GOP establishment rooted in the energy industry and dominated by religious conservatives.

Right from the get go, the article is suspect. Imagine, the shoe on another foot. One could see this sort of lead in, Democrat Hillary Clinton, scandal ridden, highly polarizing and with negatives already at or near 50%, has bucked convention and continues to lead nationwide. Let's try another... despite his Mormon background, flip flopping on key issues, and reputation for being to slick for his own good, Mitt Romney maintains a lead in Iowa.

While it is perfectly fine to lead in in such a way, if there is going to be straight analysis, we will expect to understand how he has bucked the conventional wisdom that a social liberal could lead in a social conservative party. Instead, what we get is a nebulous reason that is really just an excuse to attack Rudy in a backhanded and terribly unfair sort of a way.

But the former New York mayor has built a formidable political base in Texas with the help of well-connected Republican money men. He owes his advantage in part to his role as a name partner with a powerhouse, Houston-based law firm known for its impressive roster of energy-giant clients, Bracewell & Giuliani.

His partnership in the law firm has also brought Giuliani unwelcome criticism in connection with some of the firm's more controverisal clients, including a Spanish contractor involved in planning part of a Texas superhighway toll road known as the Trans-Texas Corridor.

Texas farmers and other landowners are worried their property rights will be trampled to make way for the highway. Conspiracy theorists see Giuliani, because of his highway connections, as allied with a cabal of international monied interests plotting to supplant the United States with a North American Union that includes Mexico and Canada.

[...]

Giuliani reported in a federal financial disclosure form in May that he received $1.2 million in income from Bracewell & Giuliani during 2006...

[...]

So, if we are supposed to believe the article, Rudy's ties to this all powerful law firm minimize the nature of his positions in a party that sees those positions 180% opposite of him. By this notion, any senior partner at this firm could get traction in the Texas Republican Primary regardless of their social views. This is of course nonsense, but it isn't really meant to be analysis. The law firm is a trojan horse as an analysis piece. It is placed in there solely so that the author could then spend the next three paragraphs analyzing the merits of a case Rudy wasn't involved in, a case that obviously is not one most people would approve of. In other words, while pretending to analyze Rudy's merits as a candidate, what the author is really doing is trying to marginalize Rudy through guilt by association.

It continues...

"The relationship with Bracewell has given Giuliani a financial foothold in the state," said Craig McDonald, director of Texans for Public Justice, which tracks money in politics.

While Giuliani isn't "totally in sync with the base on social issues," Texans liked his take-charge approach during the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and his mayoral record on crime-fighting and budget control, said Austin-based GOP consultant Reggie Bashur...

[...]

"The grassroots in Texas is ... strongly conservative. ... very much right-to-life, very fiscally conservative, strong on national defense, very strong on the war on terror, not overly sympathetic to the gay rights movement," Bashur said.

[...]

Giuliani's campaign finance chairman is Roy Bailey, a former finance chairman of the Texas Republican Party. Dallas billionaire T. Boone Pickens and Texas Rangers owner Tom Hicks are major fundraisers.

Giuliani had raised $3.69 million in Texas as of July 30, the most of any presidential candidate.

[...]

So, again, if we are pretending that this is just mere straight analysis, it seems this law firm is all powerful because it has given him a foothold financially and he has raised more than anyone else. At this point, we are almost three quarters of the way through the article and it has devoted exactly two sentences to anything that is positive about Rudy.

The next two sentences masquerade is more mere analysis but in fact give the author away as the hatchet man they are.

Giuliani has also developed a bond with Texas Gov. Rick Perry, whom he helped win re-election last year. That groundwork could make Perry a high-profile ally in Texas, although the governor hasn't yet endorsed a presidential candidate.

[...]

We are nearly done with the article before a much more logical reason for Rudy's success in Texas is even referenced, his ties to its leading politician the governor. It is of course a well known political paradigm that helping powerful people get elected helps you put together an organization for your own future runs, and that is what Rudy did when he got into bed with Perry and his successful run at the governors mansion. Let's face it, the tie to Perry wasn't done for any sort of analytical reason. It was done for the excuse to say what follows next.

Bracewell & Giuliani represents a business consortium involved in the Trans-Texas Corridor, a costly, high-profile toll road pushed by Perry and opposed by farmers and ranchers.

The first phase of Perry's proposed $184 billion toll road, envisioned as part of a superhighway stretching from Oklahoma to the Mexico border, was planned by the Cintra Zachry consortium, composed of Cintra Concesiones de Infraestructuras de Transporte SA of Spain, one of the world's largest developers of toll roads, and Zachry Construction Co. of San Antonio.

Landowners say they worry that fields and farmhouses in Texas families for generations would be bulldozed for the highway. The state acknowledges some private land will be taken, but Perry said new roads are needed to handle Texas' growing population and trade.

[...]

But the lawsuit further fueled concerns about foreign ownership of a major Texas highway, and the project continues to be criticized by conservative groups like the Eagle Forum and the John Birch Society, who see it as part of an international conspiracy to create a North American Union. The conspiracy theory has also provided fodder for cable television commentators like CNN's Lou Dobbs.

So again, what we have is more guilt by association. Even Rudy's relationship with the governor comes down to nothing but baggage because of some obscure case they were involved in. This is a case that most people don't actually know about. It is only an issue because the author is making it an issue. Furthermore, he presents the John Birch Society and the Eagle Forum as some sort of mainstream and influential Conservative groups. Of course, that is just ridiculous. These are two fringe groups and John Birch has thrown their weight behind fringe candidate Ron Paul. The North American Union is something only fringe groups worry about, and Conservatives do not look to Lou Dobbs as any sort of leading commentator.

If, again, we are supposed to still look at this as mere straight analysis, the sum total of his relationship with the governor will amount to nothing more than the case that his firm helped the governor with. No straight analysis would ever make such an outrageous assumption, but then again this is no analysis but a simple hit piece. The hit piece wouldn't be complete with one last dig that really has nothing to do with the substance of the rest of the story.

Earlier this year, Giuliani sold his investment firm, Giuliani Capital, for an undisclosed sum to the Macquarie Group, which is part of Macquarie Bank of Australia. Cintra and Macquarie's infrastructure group formed a consortium that operates a major toll road in Indiana.

Scott Segal, a Washington-based Bracewell & Giuliani partner in charge of its government relations division, said Giuliani was not involved in the Texas toll road legal work and that the law firm doesn't lobby on behalf of Cintra Zachry.

[...]

Black, Perry's spokesman, said he doubts Perry even knows that Giuliani's firm has represented the transportation companies in connection with the project.

[...]

While it dresses it up with some nice explanations, the clear implication is that Rudy sold out to foreigners. Furthermore, if Rudy doesn't even know about the project, why did the author spend several paragraphs in a painstaking attempt to flesh out the minute details of the case. This is frankly the sort of thing that even the NY Times would avoid printing and the editor and author should both be ashamed of themselves.

I am personally disgusted. So much so, that I contacted the editor and wrote this,

Dear Mr. Gott,

Recently, I came across a political analysis from your paper about Rudy Giuliani that I find to be the gutter of all political discourse. This is a hatchet job masquerading as serious political analysis. I have no doubt that most people in Midland are frankly too stupid to realize what is being done to them, or at least, I have no doubt you do. I am not from Midland, but I do have power in the blogosphere and I will make this article and your paper by extension the symbol of everything that is wrong with this country’s journalism practices.

Here is the article in question.

Here is my analysis in response. If I am wrong, I encourage you to respond to my blog. I think that my response deserves the right to be heard in your paper. Furthermore, the author and whoever decided to let this be published should not be working for your paper, unless of course, you want the whole world to know that you have an obvious and uncontrollable bias toward Republicans or at least Rudy.

If you are as disgusted then I encourage you to go here and exercise your own first amendment rights.

There is some GREAT stuff over there, folks. Go getcha some!

Blinking Democrats Miss Another News Bit...Or Did They?

If the Democrats would stop trying to dodge bullets and failing miserably, they would have more time to keep up with current events. As some of them whine and demand that Maliki resign because he hasn't miraculously, in one years' time, to solve the political issues in Iraq, they certainly of either missed this one or have chosen to ignore it as a substantial occurrence.

WSJ Online: A Fatwa Against Violence

Last week, I participated in a three day meeting here that included six of the most senior Iraqi Sunni and Shia religious leaders. At the meeting, held at a Marriott hotel in a Cairo suburb, they formally agreed to "end terrorist violence, and to disband militia activity in order to build a civilized country and work within the framework of law."

This gathering was a truly historic event, given the authority of the participants -- including Sheikh Ahmed al Kubaisi, acknowledged by all Iraqis as the senior Sunni religious authority (the weekly audience for his Friday sermons, broadcast from Dubai, number 20 million), and Ayatollah Sayyid Ammar Abu Ragheef, chief of staff for Grand Ayatollah Ali al Sistani, the acknowledged leader of the Shia community in Iraq and beyond. One has only to consider the power of these specific religious leaders, and the instruments at their disposal for getting results, to grasp the gathering's enormous potential importance.

Reuters: Cautious optimism after Iraqi political deal

BAGHDAD - A new political accord between Iraq's main Sunni Arab, Shi'ite and Kurdish leaders will not be enough to lure boycotting Sunni Arabs back into the government, a spokesman for the biggest Sunni Arab bloc said on Monday.

Five leading politicians announced the accord late on Sunday, agreeing on a mechanism for releasing detainees, a law on distributing oil revenue and measures to readmit former members of Saddam Hussein's Baath Party to public life.

Ambassador Ryan Crocker hailed the deal, which will give him at least some good news to deliver in two weeks when he and the top U.S. general in Iraq, David Petraeus, report back to Washington in a pivotal moment for U.S. policy.

The Nation should be asking why our politicians have ignored this development. It seems to me that no matter the good news in regards to Iraq, the Democratic Party Leadership and their Presidential Aspirants are trying to ignore it all and distract from facts.

I wonder why that is.

On Fear Mongering

We have ALL heard the phrase "fear mongering" from the moonbat left and their muppets of the Leftinistra.

It seems as though whenever we hear "...fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them here...", that is proclaimed fear mongering. However, whenever we hear "...attack Pakistan...", that is not called fear mongering. Why is that?

Whenever we hear "...pull the troops out of Iraq so we can fight the 'real' terrorists...", that is not called fear mongering. Why is that?

Whenever we hear "...NYC will be under water due to Global Warming...", that is not called fear mongering. Why is that?

Whenever we hear "...the rich exploit the poor...", that is not called fear mongering...". Why is that?

Whenever we hear "...terrorism is a real threat..." coming from the DNC Aspirants to the Presidency, that is not called fear mongering. Why is that?

Whenever we hear "...the economy is crashing..." that is not called fear mongering. Why is that?

Whenever we hear "...they are trashing the Constitution...", that is not called fear mongering. Why is that?

Why is that??

How about some honesty...for a change? I know honesty is said to be bad policy for those due up for elections...isn't that "fear mongering"?

How about if the country unites...as it once was before the Leftinistra decided they would NOT be in power and control if they remained united against the AQ terrorists NO MATTER WHERE THEY ARE...isn't that "fear mongering"?

Just curious.

Identity Politics...Downfall of America; An International Embarrassment

This right here is too funny in a not so funny way. It isn't funny as far as a HAHA is funny. It is funny in that the Leftinistra are whining...AGAIN! Funny as in, WTF? Funny as in, this is not known? Funny as in, you have got to be kidding me!

Read on.

From Slate:
The Los Angeles Times leads with a look at how the partisan wrangling between lawmakers in Congress has been escalating since Democrats took control and reached a high point last week. Although there was much condemnation of all this infighting, both sides have been turning up the heat, figuring "they have more to gain by warring with their rivals than by working with them." Everyone has much to lose from the deadlock but few expect the mood to change when Congress comes back, particularly since Iraq will be at the forefront again.
Get a load of this headliner:
Los Angeles Times
Partisanship serves parties' interests
And the sub-title is this:
The GOP sees more advantage in disrupting congressional business, and Democrats see no incentive to accommodate the minority.
OK. First off. What is "wrong" with the image running through your mind as you read the title and sub-title? The quote? If you are a closed-mind moonbat, you will readily proclaim the verbiage to be The Truth. If you are someone like...say...me, you will read that and laugh scornfully and proclaim, "So what else is knew?" Someone like me would proclaim the verbiage as "This Is Bull!"

Simply amazing.

For years and years and years and years, since the time of Carter and the few years before him, the Leftinistra have used their badgering techniques on the GOP types that have always maintained or worked hard at maintaining, civil discourse. This has been The Way up until recent years...more so currently.

The GOP Conservatives have FINALLY started to fight fire with fire and some have even taken their gloves off. We can no longer afford to play nice-nice. So, now, it is called "partisanship" when what it really is, and putting it bluntly, is the attitude of STFU! And here is why.

THIS IS MY GUT CALL BASED ON LIFE'S EXPERIENCE...so don't give me a ration of crap because MY gloves have been off for decades and I will trounce and pounce with no mercy. At this point, mercy is tantamount to a stay at Bellevue.

The Democrats MAY have run on the platform of "bring the troops home" but I don't believe that for one minute. I believe that in their heart of hearts, they KNOW that we cannot just walk away, no matter what you call it and the manner of which the "walk out" is termed. It is suicide for the Iraqis and Americans for aeons to come. The Battle MUST be won and THEY KNOW IT!

I believe that they used their moonobat base to win elections in close states in 11/06. They called it "a new direction" in Iraq. They KNEW as most of us knew then as we STILL know now, the then in place ROE was as retarded as Forest Gump. I know it. You know it and so did they. The new direction demanded by the American people was a VICTORY. They knew it. You know it. And so did I. Many conservatives...the hard-core ones and the moderate ones, stayed home. Had they showed up to vote, we would not be in the predicament of which we find the political bodies in at the moment.

The blathered and bantering about of The Vaunted democratic Party has gotten this country where, exactly? Exactly no where? Correct. We are right smack down in the middle of THE WORST Congressioanal Session if the history of this country. The all so hated GWB has OVER 10 times the approval rating as does the Democratic Party led "majority". CONgress has sunk to an all-time low all because the DNC LIED to the base about The War In Iraq.

When you strip down all the rhetoric; when you take the time to dissect the words spoken to various groups across the country from the Politicos; there is no way on God's Green earth that anybody in their right mind is going to pull troops out of Iraq before the job is done.

Anybody that has a head on their shoulders that are of sound mind knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that a "political solution" is NOT possible without a military victory. Cases in point; WWI, WWII, Vietnam, Korea, Grenada, Contra-Sandinista, Kosovo, to name a few. There are more examples.

WWI and WWII and Grenada; political solutions came AFTER the war was won.

Vietnam; "political solutions" lost that war.

Korea; "political solutions" wrought a "tie"...the area, to this day is STILL at war. The war was NEVER settled. The declared war on the South by the North and the declared war on the North by the South has NEVER been rescinded. This is the longest cease fire in history.

Grenada; "political solutions" came AFTER the smallest war in history was won.

Kosovo; "political solutions" have not worked because the war is on-going.

Contra-Sandinista; your guess is as good as mine.

Now, they, the Democrats and RINOs, are using the moonbat base in the SAME way and we see how the KOSmonoffs' convention was a flop if not a total waste of time, effort and money. Just look at the "conflict" taking place between The Fraud Sheehan and The Fraud Pelosi! Pelosi has stated that impeachment of GWB and Cheney will NOT happen. Censure will NOT happen. Why? Because they did NOT A THING to warrant it but it sure does excite the moonbat base.

Look at the "conflict" going on between the top three muts of the DNC. Edwards whines about "they want to shut me up" and Barack said he wants to nuke Pakistan and Hillary says she will bring the troops home. Please. The irony of the ultimate poli-speak jargon is oh so sadly comical.

Keeping the issues simple is the easiest way but it doesn't win elections.

If the Democrats, that KNOW their rhetoric is disingenuous at the minimum would tell their moonbat base to "go to your corners and don't get up until we tell you to" and if the Republicans would clean up their act, The War In Iraq would have been won LONG ago...like 1991.

Rant to be continued I am sure...

Iraq: Reid's Political Opportunism Is Showing

Really? No way? Political opportunism? Surely the worse Senate Leader in history wouldn't stoop to such a low point as all that now would he?

Excerpts from this article at CNS News:
If you needed any more proof that Democrat leaders in Congress are playing politics with the war against Islamofascism, all you had to do was listen to a recent Capitol Hill press conference where Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) was fielding questions.

When asked repeatedly whether the Iraqi people would be safer as a result of the anti-war/troops-out-now lobby getting its beloved US retreat, Reid responded by asking if there were any more questions.
So afraid he is of a victory in Iraq. it doesn't bode well for the genre of Reid to avoid those "hard questions", does it?
Maybe it wasn't a debate but it was certainly a press conference. In press conferences reporters ask questions and those holding the press conferences provide answers. Reid failed at providing an answer to a very simple question. He seems to be failing a lot lately, although you wouldn't know for his arrogance.
Reid...a man's worse nightmare...Mr Milquetoast. Pathetic. Coward. Chicken. Liar. Fraud. Reid.

Thou Shalt Not Question Reid!

The below, I received in my email:

Perturbed Reid Scolds ABC's Tapper for Questioning Withdrawal ABC's Jake Tapper on Thursday night raised the prediction "genocide" will result after a U.S. withdrawal from Iraq, a forecast Tapper put to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid at a Capitol Hill news conference: "Do you think the Iraqi people will be safer with U.S. troops out?" Reid didn't respond to the point, leading Tapper to retort in the exchange played on World News: "You didn't answer my question." A perturbed Reid, presumably not used to challenging questions from the Washington press corps, chastised Tapper: "This isn't a debate. We're answering questions." Tapper then repeated his question -- "Will the Iraqis be safer?" -- but Reid ignored him and moved on: "Anyone else have a question?" Tapper's story ran a night after Wednesday's World News featured a report from Terry McCarthy in Iraq on how General David Petraeus, commander of all multi-national forces in Iraq, "is still very optimistic about the military battle, if the politicians give him enough time."

Tapper's story ran a night after Wednesday's World News featured a report from Terry McCarthy in Iraq on how General David Petraeus, commander of all multi-national forces in Iraq, "is still very optimistic about the military battle, if the politicians give him enough time." See the July 11 CyberAlert: www.mediaresearch.org

[This item was posted, with video, Thursday night on the MRC's blog. The video will be added to the posted version of this CyberAlert, but in the meantime, to watch the Real or Windows Media video, or listen to the MP3 audio, go to: newsbusters.org ]

On his "Political Punch" blog, Tapper posted a transcript of the entire exchange with Reid: blogs.abcnews.com

Tapper's July 12 World News story was pegged to the House passage of a resolution calling on troop withdrawal from Iraq to begin within four months, a measure to be taken up next week by the Senate. Following a pro and a con soundbite on the resolution, Tapper showed his exchange with Reid:

JAKE TAPPER: Some foreign policy experts predict that such a U.S. withdrawal could unleash genocide against innocent Iraqis. It's a subject Democrats do not want to discuss.

TAPPER TO REID AT PRESS CONFERENCE: Do you think the Iraqi people will be safer with U.S. troops out?

REID: It is clear that the Iraqi people don't want us there. It is clear that there is now a state of chaos in Iraq. And it is up to the Iraqi people to make themselves safe.

[Edit jump]

TAPPER: With all due respect, Senator, you didn't answer my question.

REID: This isn't a debate. We're answering questions.

TAPPER: Will the Iraqis be safer?

REID: Anyone else have a question?

TAPPER: This week's renewed push to withdraw troops, two months before General Petraeus reports to Congress on the progress of the surge strategy, has Republicans saying these votes are more about politics than national security....

I find it "curious" that Reid said that he was answering questions but refused to answer a few asked of him. Could it be that Reid will only answer questions which point to and support his low ratings...LOWER than GWB's?

What is Reid hiding and where is his substantiations to his claims when it is clear to the world that the words Reid speaks is contrary to the reports we hear from the Boots On The Ground?

And this is the report Terry McCarthy made from Iraq:

ABC: 'Petraeus Optimistic' on Iraq 'If
Pols Give Him Enough Time'

On ABC's World News on Wednesday night, reporter Terry McCarthy gave time to how moves in Washington, DC to pull U.S. troops out of Iraq will undermine progress against al Qaeda. Reporter Terry McCarthy, who traveled with General David Petraeus in the Sunni Triangle's al Qaeda stronghold south of Baghdad, highlighted how the commander of all forces in Iraq "is still very optimistic about the military battle, if the politicians give him enough time." McCarthy asked him: "Are you concerned that the U.S. political clock could start ticking too fast and undermine security here? Undermine confidence here?" Petraeus replied that "obviously, that's in the back of our minds. And there is not a great deal we can do about it, other than to continue to press forward." McCarthy concluded: "The fields south of Baghdad are still a major battlefield in the fight against al Qaeda. But increasingly, Petraeus knows the most important battle in the Iraq war is being fought out in Washington."

[This item was posted Wednesday night on the MRC's blog, NewsBusters.org: newsbusters.org ]

A transcript of McCarthy's story on the July 11 World News:

REPORTER TERRY MCCARTHY, NARRATING VIDEO FROM A HELICOPTER: Rich farmland along the Tigris River. From the air, it looks peaceful. But this is the so-called triangle of death, the Sunni belt south of Baghdad full of al Qaeda extremists, enemy number one for General David Petraeus.
GENERAL DAVID PETRAEUS: The enemy in Iraq that is causing the horrific attacks, that is igniting the sectarian violence, that is causing the mass casualties and damaging the infrastructure, by and large is al Qaeda.
MCCARTHY: This is al Qaeda territory, about 20 miles south of Baghdad and a major production area for car bombs. The primary mission of the U.S. military here is to turn the local population against al Qaeda and stop those car bombs making their way to Baghdad. Turning the local population against al Qaeda takes time. And that is one commodity that General Petraeus is running out of. He knows that Congress wants to draw down U.S. troops because they're losing faith in the Iraqi government.
PETRAEUS: No one is happy with where they are right now. We all share that frustration, frankly that disappointment.
MCCARTHY: Despite all this, Petraeus is still very optimistic about the military battle, if the politicians give him enough time.
MCCARTHY TO PETRAEUS: Are you concerned that the U.S. political clock could start ticking too fast and undermine security here? Undermine confidence here?
PETRAEUS: Obviously, that's in the back of our minds. And there is not a great deal we can do about it, other than to continue to press forward.
MCCARTHY: The fields south of Baghdad are still a major battlefield in the fight against al Qaeda. But increasingly, Petraeus knows the most important battle in the Iraq war is being fought out in Washington. Terry McCarthy, ABC News, Patrol Base Murray, central Iraq.

The Parasites of DC

The Ten Commandments for Poly-tick-cians (many parasites)

Cross-posted from Miss Beth…our own Legal Eagle!!

This came to my email today from my friend Angel.

********************

1. Thou shalt not rob those who work hard in order to subsidize those who hardly work. Note to politicians: If you really believe that drunks, druggies, and derelicts have a “right” to “equal housing,” open up the doors of your own home!

2. Thou shalt not send American troops into harms way — and then stab them in the back when they’re fighting at the front. Cut and run is not a sound strategy for military victory. Those like Mr. Murtha who are still fighting the War in Vietnam should not let their pitiful flashbacks dictate our foreign policy.

3. Thou shalt not kill unborn babies. Period.

4. Thou shalt not extort income taxes above 10% of the American worker’s annual earnings. If 10% is good enough for God, it’s good enough for government.

5. Thou shalt not grant amnesty to illegal aliens. Instead of rewarding them with a primrose “path to citizenship”, put them on the fast track to the Mexican border.

6. Thou shalt not surrender American sovereignty. There is no “global test.” There is no “precedent in foreign law.” And there is no need to continue subsidizing the UN’s Kofi Anan and his America-bashing band of predators, pariahs, and piranhas.

7. Thou shalt not pay yourselves one more dime than the average income of the American worker. If you truly want to represent us, learn to live within our means. Then, maybe you’ll stop robbing us blind and spending us broke. Perhaps if you learn first-hand how hard it is for the average American to balance the family budget, you’ll become a little more adept at balancing the federal budget.

8. Thou shalt serve no more than two terms in office. Remember us? We’re the ones who sent you to Washington mistakenly thinking you might one day want to return … The ones you seem to hope will now leave you alone, forget your phone number, and stop inundating you with FREE emails and ActiFaxes. Well, don’t count on it - because it’s never going to happen.

9. Thou shalt not continue to endorse, support, or condone the government’s ruthless persecution of Christians, Christian values and Christian observances. Let’s put it this way: Every year the Manger Scene is not back in the public square further diminishes your chances of getting back into public office. What exactly is it that you don’t understand about, “Congress shall make no law prohibiting the free exercise [of religion]”?

10. Thou shalt not place yourself above the law. When you get caught driving drunk, don’t try to pull rank - just take the breathalyser and perp walk to the paddy wagon … When you assault a police officer, don’t claim the divine right of royalty … And when you get caught taking a bribe, don’t claim that “congressional privilege” means the cold cash is yours to keep.

Angel, my friend–you said it ALL in a nutshell!

The DNC and Terrorism

On Democrats and Terrorism

These clowns never give up. Well, neither do I. I just don’t have, like Dennis Miller said, the opportunity others do to get the word out. I try hard via the blogs I write for and visit.

I was called to attention of a certain topic by a blogger hailing by madconductor. We at the Victory Caucus serve but one purpose and one purpose only…TOTAL VICTORY in this Global War On Terror. Unfortunately, there are some that don’t have the stomach for the requirements needed for a TOTAL VICTORY in the Global War On Terror.

If you are a member of the Victory Caucus, you will have access to madconductor’s post I am about to expound upon. He left a post on a particular thread, complete with several links which, I will place here in due time. Let us begin.

I enjoy reading Douglas Farah’s blog. He has posted what I think is an interesting summary and analysis of Hamas and its future in Gaza - and offers a few noteworthy observations:

  1. Hamas and The Muslim Brotherhood are in a love-hate relationship because Hamas participated in the elections.

  2. Zawahiri severly chastised Hamas over their “political process”. It became so intense that they battled each other on their web sites.

  3. While there is no disagreement with Al-Qaeda types on long term goals, the tactics to achieve them had estranged Hamas from their more violent brethren. This has obviously changed.

Update: Robert Spencer has an observation on the Muslim Brotherhood and Keith Ellison - who has agreed to speak at a banquet for them, even though CAIR has been named an “unindicted co-conspirator” in the Holy Land Foundation Hamas funding case.

You might find Farah’s post interesting along with another observation he makes of the pushback that the DOJ is undertaking with CAIR and the ISNA.

The Muslim Brotherhood (Hamas) Now Faces Difficult Decisions:

Some in Hamas are openly discussing making the Gaza Strip Islamic state.

I would think this would give pause to those who repeatedly say that the Ikhwan could and would accept the results of elections and have and will work with non-Islamist coalition partners to advance a broad agenda.

Hamas showed that the discourse of dialogue and coalition building and the strategy participating in a process its ideologues cannot completely control, will be thrown out if the chance for armed victory emerges.

As destructive as the fighting with Fatah has been in general, it will open the door for a thawing of relations between Hamas and the Salafist groups. The future of that relationship should tell us a great deal about what the real intentions are of Hamas, and by extension, the Muslim Brotherhood.

A Small Step Forward:

Well, it seems that after the Department of Justice’s decision to name CAIR and ISNA as unindicted co-conspirators in the Holy Land case, the senior leadership at the DOJ has suddenly discovered “scheduling conflicts” that will not allow its leaders to meet the Islamist leader in a planned community outreach program.

The June 27 event, to have been presided over by AG Alberto Gonzalez, is now not being held. A panelist was to have been the vice president of ISNA. Several prominent CAIR members, as well as many of its allies, were to be present.

It seems to me this is the first time the DOJ has had the intestinal fortitude to take a step back away from groups that have pushed their way into the public arena as representatives of the Muslim community while simultaneously having several of its members investigated and indicted by the federal government in terrorism related cases and other cases.

At the same time, it seems that CAIR, which holds itself out as the representative of the Muslim community in the United States, has seen its membership plummet 90 percent since 9-11.

“They” are on the move. “They” being Enemies of The State, a Clear and present Danger to the survival of the American way of life and our traditional values. Their are people that HATE those traditional values and do whatever it takes to eliminate them, even if it means getting in bed with the terrorists to make it so.

Keith Ellison to speak at banquet of unindicted co-conspirator in terror funding case:

That’s right, a United States Congressman, Keith Ellison (D-MN), is going to speak at a CAIR banquet, despite the fact that CAIR has been named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation Hamas funding case.

Joe Kaufman is right: Ellison should resign.

An Americans Against Hate press release:

KEITH ELLISON TO SPEAK AT (UNINDICTED CO-CONSPIRATOR) CAIR BANQUET TONIGHTAMERICANS AGAINST HATE CALLS ON ELLISON TO RESIGN

(Coral Springs, FL) Tonight, June 16, 2007, Congressman Keith Ellison will be a featured speaker at the First Annual Banquet of the Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Minnesota). This, after CAIR had just been named an “unindicted co-conspirator” in a Hamas financing case put forward by the United States government.

Ellison, less than three weeks ago, was the keynote speaker at the 4th Annual Convention of the Minnesota chapter of the Muslim American Society (MAS-Minnesota). While he spoke, MAS-Minnesota had on its website material discussing waging war against non-Muslims and the murdering of Jews. The material is still located on the group’s site.

Following his appearance, Americans Against Hate (AAH) demanded that Congressman Ellison denounce MAS for its anti-Semitic and anti-Christian statements or resign from office. Ellison has remained silent on the issue.

AAH Chairman Joe Kaufman, stated, “Being that Keith Ellison refuses to denounce the Muslim American Society, and being that he is now going to be speaking at an event sponsored by a group named by the U.S. government as a co-conspirator to Hamas, we have no choice but to call on Keith Ellison to resign from his held office as United States Representative. Congressman Ellison, by openly cavorting with bigoted and pro-terrorist elements in our society, can no longer work for the best interests of our nation.”

THE POLLS ARE COMING!!

Galluping To The Polls

Aren’t polls fun? The nuances are astoundingly…well…eclectic. I believed a poll one time. It “caused me” to cast my very first presidential election ever in my life for Jimmah Cahtah. Since that time (almost 2 years into his presidency) I have learned to laugh at polls. Someone I respect that does follow the polls said that they have evolved from those days of yore and are now more scientific.

Whatever.

I’ll stick to my original adage and watch the candidates and their poll-scramblers blow with the wind. The one that blows the least in a category 96 hurricane is the one I will vote for. Someone that changes stances according to how the winds blow is more brain-dead than the idiots that vote for the idiots blowing with the wind.

Whatever happened to personal integrity in this country?

The Gallup Pole:

PRINCETON, NJ — With no incumbent president or vice president running for the 2008 presidential nominations, it is perhaps not surprising that both of the major parties have competitive races, with multiple candidates jockeying for second, if not first, place. Still, the current outlines of voter preferences in the Republican and Democratic nomination battles are remarkably similar.

According to the latest USA Today/Gallup poll of national adults, conducted June 11-14, 2007, each race is characterized by a front-runner attracting about 30% of the potential primary vote nationwide, followed by two candidates garnering about 20% support each in a close contest for second place, and a slew of weaker candidates, each supported by no more than 11%.

Continuing the parallels, the race for second place in both parties features one announced candidate who has earned fairly steady support throughout the year (mostly failing to build momentum) and one unannounced candidate with growing support, just recently pulling into a tie for second.

THE POLLS ARE COMING! THE POLLS ARE COMING! THE POLLS ARE COMING!

THE POLLS ARE COMING! THE POLLS ARE COMING! THE POLLS ARE COMING!

THE POLLS ARE COMING! THE POLLS ARE COMING! THE POLLS ARE COMING!

THE POLLS ARE COMING! THE POLLS ARE COMING! THE POLLS ARE COMING!

I particularly like the phrase “national adults”. What is a “national adult”? Is that as opposed to an “international adult”? And what would be the difference?

That’s OK. Believe the polls if you like. I just find it “odd” that when the polls are in the favor of the Leftinistra, the polls are God’s gift to the Universe. When the polls are NOT in favor of the Leftinistra, the polls are skewed. What say ye? Feel free. I don’t bite much. Lost some of my teeth in Tajikistan a while back.

The Lies of The Leftinistra

Lies from the Left

I would like to thank Snooper for the honor of inviting me to contribute on his wonderful blog.

I am reposting a piece I wrote showing the realities vs the lies the left keep telling their supporters.

We keep hearing a litany of allegations from the left about how we went to war with Iraq only because of WMD’s, but after 9/11/01, the president of the United States of America, with members of both the Republican party AND the Democratic party standing beside him, made a speech where he said:

From this day forward, any nation that continues to harbor or support terrorism will be regarded by the United States as a hostile regime. Our nation has been put on notice, we’re not immune from attack. We will take defensive measures against terrorism to protect Americans. Today, dozens of federal departments and agencies, as well as state and local governments, have responsibilities affecting homeland security.

Those on the left would like to forget that nations that harbor or support terrorism are part of the war on terror.

They cry out, but Saddam Hussein did not have anything to do with 9/11…. I say, prove it.

There is plenty of proof showing Saddam Hussein and Iraq did indeed “harbor” and “support” terrorism, and further “proof” that he also aided members of al-Qaeda. These are called facts, provable fact, those pesky little things members on the left hate. (Hat Tip to Gateway Pundit for the link)

Those same members on the left, when faced with the actual proof, would rather act like children, put there fingers in their ears and sing la la la la la la la, so as to not have to admit those facts are there. Well they are there and denying it simply makes you look foolish and uneducated.

Have they found WMD’s in Iraq yet? NO. Have they searched more than 10% of the suspected sites yet? NO. Has this administration made mistakes in Iraq? YES. Does that negate the facts that Saddam Hussein was a monster and provided aid, money, medical attention and sponsored terror. NO.

Below I will list excerpts from the page linked to above.

Let’s start with money. At a minimum, we know that Saddam Hussein’s government supported terrorism by paying “bonuses” of up to $25,000 to the families of Palestinian homicide bombers. How do we know this? Tariq Aziz, Hussein’s own deputy prime minister, was stunningly candid about the Baathist government’s underwriting of terrorist killings in Israel.

“President Saddam Hussein has recently told the head of the Palestinian political office, Faroq al-Kaddoumi, his decision to raise the sum granted to each family of the martyrs of the Palestinian uprising to $25,000 instead of $10,000,” Aziz, announced at a Baghdad meeting of Arab politicians and businessmen on March 11, 2002, Reuters reported the next day.

The linked page above also has pictures of those checks to pay for the “terrorism”.

Nations that harbor or support terrorism“. Iraq continually provided safe harbor for terrorists.

Beyond cash and diplomatic help, Saddam Hussein was the Conrad Hilton of the terrorist world. He provided a place for terrorists to kick back, relax, and reflect after killing people for a living.

After escaping Italian police in October 1985 following the Achille Lauro hijacking (thanks to his Iraqi diplomatic passport), Abu Abbas finally ended up in Baghdad in 1994, where he lived comfortably as one of Saddam Hussein’s guests. U.S. soldiers caught Abbas in Iraq in April 2003. This time, he did not get away. He died last March 9, in American custody, reportedly of natural causes.

Abbas’ Baghdad sojourn was not an isolated incident. Saddam Hussein granted avowed international terrorists refuge in Baathist Iraq. Terror mastermind Abu Nidal also enjoyed his hospitality.

Nidal lived comfortably in Iraq between 1999 and August 2002. As the Associated Press reported on August 21, 2002, Nidal’s Beirut office said he entered Iraq “with the full knowledge and preparations of the Iraqi authorities.” 13 Prior to his relocation, he ran the eponymous Abu Nidal Organization — a Palestinian terror network behind attacks in 20 countries, at least 407 confirmed murders, and some 788 other terror-related injuries. Among other savage acts, Nidal’s group used guns and grenades to attack a ticket counter at Rome’s Leonardo da Vinci airport on December 27, 1985. Another cell in Austria simultaneously assaulted Vienna’s airport, killing 19 people.

Among the five Americans that Abu Nidal murdered that day was John Buonocore III, a 20-year-old Fairleigh Dickinson College student who had studied in Rome that fall semester. Buonocore was shot in the back while checking in for his flight home. He had hoped to return to Wilmington, Delaware to help his father celebrate his 50th birthday.

We then move on to debunk the lefts outright lies or lack of eduaction with the question:

But is there any evidence that Iraq sheltered those responsible for attacks on America? SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO glad you asked!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Enter Abdul Rahman Yasin, pictured below in a U.S. State Department “Wanted” poster.

This Indiana-born, Iraqi-reared terrorist remains wanted by the FBI for his role in the February 26, 1993 World Trade Center attack. President Bill Clinton’s Justice Department indicted Yasin for mixing the chemicals in the bomb that exploded in the parking garage beneath the Twin Towers, killing six and injuring 1,042 people in New York.Soon after the smoke cleared, Yasin returned to Iraq. Coalition forces have discovered documents that show he enjoyed housing and a monthly government salary.

The site I linked to above also goes on to show further proof, showing how Abu Musab al Zarqawi ran to Iraq and received medical attention, then again we already know, as facts, that Abu Musab al Zarqawi was there…..it is where we killed him.

The site also goes on to point out the training camps where terrorists were trained.

Sabah Khodada, a former Iraqi army captain who once worked at Salman Pak. On October 14, 2001, Khodada granted an interview to PBS television program “Frontline,” stating, “This camp is specialized in exporting terrorism to the whole world.”

He added: “Training includes hijacking and kidnapping of airplanes, trains, public buses, and planting explosives in cities … how to prepare for suicidal operations.”

He continued: “We saw people getting trained to hijack airplanes…They are even trained how to use utensils for food, like forks and knives provided in the plane.”

As they point out, sounds familiar huh?

Finish reading, there is quite a bit I did not touch on here, read it there.

I have no doubt that members of the left will not dare go read, search and find all the links that Saddam held with terror and terrorists, because their ability to deny the truth is based on the fact that they do not SEE it. In their warped view, if they close their eyes and cannot see something, it must not BE THERE. Yeah, thats the ticket!!!!! (I wonder if that will work on the extra couple pounds on my ass.)

But for those that do wish to see the truth, it is out there, facts, figures, documentation and testimony. Read it, learn it, because knowing who our enemies are, might just be what saves us in the end.

To President Bush…. you said you would go after terror and states that sponsor terror, you did. Thank you Mr. President, for keeping your word and for not following in the other politicians footsteps in changing your mind as the polls change.

Give 'Em Hell!

Raise Cain!

Town Hall is running a private survey. This might be worth signing up if you are not yet a member. It is free, anyhow. Here is the survey’s url:

http://www.therealdemocratstory.com/townhallsurvey/

This question is open ended, you can let them have it.

What is your best idea for defeating the Democrats in 2008?

My answer follows:

1. Select genuine Conservative candidates for all offices.

2. Run on genuine Conservative principles.

3. Point out ‘crat hypocrisy at every opportunity.

I am looking for a new party because the GOP has abandoned Conservatism by nominating and electing conmen instead of statesmen.

If enough of us slap them with the truth, the GOP might wake up, I ain’t holding my breath in anticipation, but this may be our best shot, besides withholding financial support.

Jihad 101

The Ins and Outs of This War…2007

The only “wars” in recent times that I know of that took a very short time to “win” are the Faulkland Islands and the Invasion of Grenada. The current “war” we are involved in has been going on for decades upon decades upon decades. This “debacle” as touted by the Reids of the world must first be understood for what it is; a Global War of Jihad. There really is only one way to have an ultimate and clear-cut end…total annihilation of the enemy.

Some would have us believe that we can negotiate a settlement with the Global Jihadists. Others proclaim that a radical few have hijacked an otherwise peaceful “religion”. Both of these noble premise, although well intended, are as wrong as wrong can get. There is no such thing as “peaceful Islam”. I would like for someone to tell me of one instance…just one and only one…where there was ever a “peaceful Islam”.

What is Jihad?

What is Jihad: The Arabic word Jihad is derived from the root word Jahada (struggle). Jihad has come to mean an offensive war to be waged by Muslims against all non-Muslims to convert them to Islam on the pain of death. Jihad is enjoined on all Muslims by the Quran.

We have a series on this blog dedicated to the exposure of what our pathetic political leaders cannot nor will not accept…it is not politically expedient and it is surely not politically correct to KNOW the truth.

Perhaps this video will begin to cast a glimmer of a shadow of a hope that a dim light at the end of an infinite tunnel will begin to glow.

The Politically Correct proponents fear world opinion and will not allow themselves to honestly see what the world faces. The world faces World Conquest of Jihad.

I find it appalling that the American Quest and Lust for Political Power within my country has brought us to the brink of self-induced destruction. We haven’t been this politically split since 1861 and look how that unfolded. Idealism. Realism. And any other “ism” imaginable or invented to espouse one’s “world view” will be the demise of this nation called The United States of America.

What are we united against? What are we united for? We hear a minority in numbers tout separation of Church and State, when there is no such doctrine in the Constitution, when it comes to the Ten Commandments on display in courtrooms and elsewhere yet we allow without impunity, the fabrication and construction of Islamic “cleansing basins“, a religion-based tenet of foot-washing in our universities, tax dollars supported. We allow “special” public schools where “peaceful Islam” can be taught to the “peaceful Jihadist’s” children in our school systems.

We allow “peaceful religious” Islamic militant compounds to thrive on our own soil yet we take down the Branch Davidians. Duplicitous does not even scratch the surface of this sham called Separation of Church and State.

I read today in the “harpy” news media all manner of wrong-headed and politically charged rhetoric, politically driven, naturally, as to the “ill-gotten when will it all end” nonsense. Those of us that are in The Know, laugh scornfully at the uneducated.

It will all end when the world is ruled by the Caliphate.

More to follow. Let the video sink in.

Leftist Schieffer

On Bob Schieffer At CBS

Some things and some people in life either bring positives or negatives into their spheres of influence.

Bob Schieffer is stuck in the middle as are most Leftinistra. As is the “norm” of the LSD Press Rooms around the world, the points, issues and concerns are glossed over and missed by the alleged Intelligentsia. He starts off good, giving the impression that he just MIGHT have a fair shot at getting something right…not bad for a lefty…getting something right.

I have never been much for third parties and independent candidates.

So far, so good. They muddy the waters and they destroy the chances of someone decent getting elected. For example, Ross Perot screwed the country by getting the no-name Clinton elected. And look where we are because of it.

For all of its flaws, the old two-party system has brought us a long way in this country, and I’m slow to change. But as I watch the Senate fumble around with the immigration bill, it made me wonder: Has our two-party system lost the ability to get anything done?

Here we go. He gives the inference that the issue is immigration. What a PUTZ! The issue, dear Bobby, is ILLEGAL immigration and AMNESTY and FREE RIDES given to NON US citizens while the CITIZENS get schmotz!

We keep hearing that both parties are playing to their base.

Republicans don’t want to offend conservatives so they block real immigration reform.

Again with the stupidity, repeating over and over the WRONG issue like it is the right issue. So whom is pandering to whom, Bobby?

The Conservatives (not Republicans or Democrats) are blocking AMNESTY for ILLEGAL alien immigrant law breakers. That is the issue. Get it right.

Democrats fear the liberal left, so they don’t want reform.

Democrats ARE the liberal left, goober. Where ya been?

Result: Nothing gets done on that or anything else.

And nothing will get done with dolts such as yourself pandering to the other dolts and missing the real issues as you pander to each other.

Yet polls show a majority of Americans want reform, want a guest worker program for illegal immigrants in this country, favor a way to make their status legal. Who speaks for that segment of the electorate? Certainly, not Democratic and Republican leaders, who are so busy pacifying those so-called base voters.

The CBS polls? The MSLSD polls? The Leftinistra polls? Which polls are you yammering about? Guest workers? No. We do NOT want such an amnesty breeding program. Get it right.

Favor a way to make a way for legal status? How about, like, OBEYING the friggin’ laws? How’s that you pandering dweeb? I know. Obeying laws to a Leftinistra is anathema. Get over it.

Who speaks for “that segment of the electorate”? Which segment? The imagined ones like you described? Moron.

I hope we do see a third-party candidate in the presidential race next year, not because I favor anyone who might run as an independent, but because a third choice would force both the Republicans and the Democrats to move more to the center to stop an independent from siphoning off moderate voters.

Wrong again, meat whistle. We are on to your type. Y’all preach the deceitful issues and muddy up the already murky waters of hate and discontent. What y’all are looking for is another Ross Perot Incident so your retarded communist in socialist garb candidates have a shot at the title. As it is right now, neither one of your DNC types has a shot.

“Towards the center”…you mean mediocrity, correct? Like I said…we are on to you and your type.

If both parties are forced to shift their hunt for votes to the center rather than the edges of their parties, who knows? They may find some common ground every once in a while and actually get something done.

Dear Booby, I mean Bobby or, Robert…whatever…still on to you. You CANNOT shake us. We are here to stay, silent no more. This is yet another shining example of ignorance and lies. This whole “immigration debate” is about developing a whole new voting base because the ones that exist HATE your kind. Your kind have destroyed this great nation.

The politicos NO LONGER represent “We The People” and “We The People” are going to Take Our Country Back. Do NOT get in our way.

The New Media Scares The Old Media

Why Do Rush And Sean Scare Them So?

Why Do Rush And Sean Scare Them So?

Radio station WIOD, AM 610, has been the official channel for emergency information from Broward County government for the past year. The County Commission, all Democrats, balked at renewing the deal Tuesday, unable to stomach the station also being home to [Rush] Limbaugh’s talk show.

And so we reach the inevitable end of the left’s campaign against the First Amendment. The Democrats in Broward County have officially declared themselves as the anti-free speech party. Commissioner Ritter is to be applauded for her candor, for declaring openly what elected Democrats across the country mutter quietly to themselves: “Rush, Sean and the rest must be silenced!”

I have heard of brass-knuckled politics before, but never anything on the order of denying your political opponents news of approaching hurricanes.

When Katrina struck, some wild-eyed lefties accused President Bush of denying relief efforts to New Orleans because the city was predominantly African-American.

Now we have actual proof of Democrats wanting to keep conservatives in the dark about approaching storms.

Go read the rest. Clearly the Leftinistra are delusional.

GREAT piece Hugh, as usual.

Have You?

No. I Have Not Forgotten

I haven’t forgotten the men I carried out nor the men that carried me out. I haven’t forgotten the faces of the demons that visit me every night…when they come. I haven’t forgotten the horrors of war. I haven’t forgotten the screams of pain or the screams of rage. I haven’t forgotten the tears for fallen comrades and I haven’t forgotten the idiots in congress, either.

I haven’t forgotten the physical and psychological scars…I see them every day. I haven’t forgotten that my eldest son is serving, protecting the idiots in congress and the idiots that support the idiots in congress.

I haven’t forgotten the words of the platitudes rendered by the idiots in congress. How can I forget and how can YOU forget? I see them every day. Don’t you?
